British Gospel Arts can provide workshops in gospel singing, song-writing, performance and musicianship as part of your school celebration, in preparation for performances, as part of a themed day or week or just for the fun of it.

We are the educational arm of the world-renowned London Community Gospel Choir and have been running Gospel music programmes in schools, colleges, universities and community organisations all over the UK and Europe for ten years. Our experienced team of Gospel music specialists work with children and adults of all ages and abilities.

Throughout the year we will be offering 'Specials'. The first is our 'Spring Special' available from 1 February to 30 April 2012. Book a minimum three-hour workshop for your students and receive a FREE one hour singing workshop for your staff members.*

* Terms and Conditions for Spring Special offer:  Valid only for booking made between 1 February and 30 April 2012.  Where possible, staff workshop should be arranged for the same day at the end of the school day.  If this is not possible, staff workshop should take place within two months of the qualifying workshop date.

Caribbean Spirituals

This workshop takes you on a journey of music from Africa to the Caribbean. It looks at the fusion of African rhythms with biblical lyrics and rituals from both cultures.

What you can expect?

  • Learn rhythm through clapping games and dance moves
  • Learn how to sing Caribbean Spirituals in unison and harmony

Harlem Gospel Choir

African-American Spirituals

This workshop takes you on a journey of music from Africa to North America. It looks at the fusion of African rhythms with biblical lyrics and rituals from both cultures.

What you can expect?

  • Brief history of the origins of African American (Negro) Spirituals
  • Learn rhythm through clapping games and dance moves
  • Learn how to sing African-American Spirituals in unison and harmony
  • Understand how lead voices work with choral arrangement

London Community Gospel Choir

Contemporary British
Black Gospel

This workshop takes you on a journey of music from Caribbean to Britain over the past fifty years. It looks at the Windrush Generation and the music and culture they brought to the UK.
